What computer/internet based resource can I use to start building my Family Tree?
There are a number of programs that a family historian can use, the most commonly used program is the web based Ancestry.com.au this can be used as a free service (but no access to online data) or it can be a paid up subscription, and receive all the benefits of hints and access to all available information on Ancestry. (the type of access is dependent on the type of subscription purchased).
Another web based Family Tree Builder is Tribalpages.com, But may not have a vast database and historical records (as Ancestry) But is free and can be upgraded to a full functioning online Family Tree.
Legacy Family Tree, software is available from most Software retailers or as a download. This is a subscription based program, to be able to search online databases and receive hints. (internet connection is a must). This program is a local computer based and cannot be accessed on any other computer.
There are many ways to build your family tree! Talk to other Family Historians and Family Research societies in most localities, and seek their opinion on how and what to use.
